House of Dorin (French, founded in 1780)

House of Dorin is a perfume company founded around 1780 by Marguerite BRUNET (also known as Mademoiselle Montansier) when she aquired the brand Fards Rouges et Blancs. The company became the supplier of the Royal Court of Versailles, due to Montansier's personal relationship with Marie-Antoinette. Montansier partnered with Jean-Marie DORIN who went on to aquire the company in 1819. He renamed it after himself. The company kept growing and eventually became known for it's quality products that had no known health risks. In 1884, the mayor of the 3rd arrondissement of Paris Hector MONIN became director of the house and brought his vision and a European and global dimension by going so far as to import his products throughout the American continent. The house then moved into a room in a house at 27 rue Grenier-Saint-Lazare before overflowing throughout the building and then the huge building of the neighboring number 25. Dorin never ceased to embellish the theater and its actors. Mr. Louis-Arsène DELAUNAY, famous comedian of the French comedy and Professor at the Conservatory of Paris, authorizes Dorin to give his name to the products which had served him.
