Roberto CAPUCCI (Italian, born 1930 in Rome)

Roberto Capucci, born December 2, 1930 in Rome, is an Italian fashion designer. His designs regularly use geometric shapes and bright colors. He has received numerous awards for all of his work. In the yung age, he draws for the women around him (his mother, his aunt, his sisters, the servants) shoes for example and expresses his opinion on their outfits. After studying at Liceo Artistico, he returned to the Academia delle Belle Arti in Rome. It was the journalist Maria FOSCHINI who worked for the Giornale dell'artigianato, who introduced him to a tailor. He began his career as a fashion designer in 1950 with a workshop on Via Sistina in Rome. In 1951, then in his early twenties, he really started and was invited to present his models for the first time in Florence, apart from the work of other Italian stylists. Other participants in the event refused his participation, it was prohibited. But journalists appreciate his creations and launch his success. In 1952, alongside other designers such as Vincenzo Ferdinandi, Sartoria Antonelli, Carosa Workshop, Giovanelli Sciarra, Polinober, Germana Marucelli, Sartoria Vanna, Jole Veneziani he went to Florence at the first historic fashion show Sala Bianca du Palazzo Pitti. In 1962, with the financing of a Florentine businessman, he opened a studio in Paris, rue Cambon, which would last until 1968 when he returned to Rome for family reasons. He befriends Pierre CARDIN.
