Guillaume ALAUX (French, 1856 - 1912 Bordeaux)
French male painter and pastellist, born 16 September 1856 and died 3 August 1912. Mostly famous for portraits, scenes with figures, local scenes, seascapes, fishing scenes.
Guillaume ALAUX was the grandson of Jean-Paul ALAUX, otherwise known as "Gentil" (the Gentle) and the brother of Daniel ALAUX, both painters. He studied from Léon BONNAT, Fernand HUMBERT and Henri GERVEX. In Paris in 1882 , he exhibited his work at Salon des Artistes Français. He stopped exhibiting at this Salon from 1890.
