Hector RUFFATO (French, born Italian, Padua 1877 - 1958 Paris)
Hector RUFFATO is a French sculptor of Italian origin, specializing in wood sculpture and having a workshop, rue de Montorgueil in Paris, which he shared with his relatif (probably her brother) Etienne RUFFATO, also sculptor in wood.
Hector Stephane RUFFATO was born on September 1, 1877 in Padua, Italy. He is the son of Antoine RUFFATO and Angela DOLCE. He began his studies in this city, then travel through the main Italian cities before settling in Paris. He married Victoria CIMIOTI (1877-1958) and lived at 117 bis, rue de Montreuil in Paris. At the same address also reside Etienne Joseph Egidio RUFFATO and his concubine Rachel MAZE.
The family ties between Hector and Etienne are not well known today, even it is probable that it is simply his brother. Etienne appear in the professional yearbook around in 1909 as a sculptors on wood, furniture and works of art. But Etienne also made art sculptures during the interwar period. Their signatures being very close, their works are sometimes confused. However, Hector was more known comparing to Etienne. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1932 to 1941.
