Revlon, Inc. (American, founded 1932)
Revlon is an American cosmetics and perfume company and brand founded in 1932 by Jewish American brothers Charles REVSON and Joseph REVSON along with a chemist, Charles LACHMAN, who contributed the "L" in the Revlon name.
In 1936 the REVSON brothers and LACHMAN create an opaque, long-lasting nail polish. This product is a hit with hairdressing salons. In 1940, Revlon developed first aid kits for the service of the US Army.
The idea of coordinating the colors of polishes and those of lipsticks was born in 1940. In 1950, the colors of the polishes were, this time, matched with American fashion collections. In 1960, Revlon entered the international market. The brand conveys the image of the "American Look" through television campaigns.
In the 1970s, Revlon launched the Charlie fragrance line. In 1975, the brand was rewarded by being the world's first fragrance.
