Kammivabrik (Estonia, founded 1918)
Kammivabrik, translates from Estonian as "Comb factory", is literally a comb factory founded by Albert LARETEI in Tartu, Estonia in 1918. In 1922, combs were made in a small hangar where Albert LARETEI had two assistants.
Combs were made from the cattle horns in the early years. Later, the main consumer of Tartu combs was England, but they were also exported to other European countries. Raw and auxiliary materials were mainly imported from Japan, Italy, France and the United States.
In 1932, Max REICH, an English businessman, bought a comb factory and exports continued to increase.
The comb factory also produces feather heads, toothbrushes, spectacle frames, hair clips, technical products, table tennis balls, soap boxes and trays, toothbrush boxes, toys (e.g. rattles), various consumer goods (buckets, rakes), motorcycle helmets etc.
