House of Laferrière (French, 1869 - 1913)

Maison Laferrière is a former important French haute couture fashion house. Created by Madeleine LAFERRIERE (1847-1912) in 1869, it was initially a clothing store, opened at 28 rue Taitbout in Paris. Around 1900, it competed with the Doucet, Paquin and Worth houses.

Madeleine LAFERRIERE is one of the first female haute couturiers to have enjoyed enduring success. She created gowns for European royalty, including Queen Maud of Norway and Princess Alexandra of Wales.

The house closed with the death of Madeleine LAFERRIERE.
