Flora GERALDY-REYNARD (French, 1802 - 1849 Paris)

Flora Barbe Louise GERALDY, born in 1802 and died November 22, 1849 in Paris, was a French female artist. Daughter of Antoine GERALDY (1766, Rodez - 1836), commissioner of war under Napoleon, Flora had grown up in Alsace, in Colmar in the 1820s. An excellent musician, it is however in the fine arts that she best illustrated. Flora REYNARD exhibited at the Salon under her maiden name, GERALDY, from 1831 to 1835. From 1837 to 1842, she participated under the name of her husband, Vincent Auguste Hilarion GERALDY (1793-1871), an artillery officer who 'she had married on May 27, 1835, and who was also a drawing teacher. The works presented were exclusively portraits, in watercolor or in miniature. Some of her works are signed "Reynard Geraldy".
