He-Ro Group (American, 1969-1997)

The He-Ro Group, a prominent New York garment company known for eveningwear and designer licensed lines, was founded in 1969 by Herbert ROUNICK, and was operated out of Manhattan's famous Seventh Avenue garment district. The company manufactured and marketed popular evening and special-occasion wear under labels like Niteline by Della ROUFOGALI and licensed lines such as Black Tie by Oleg CASSINI. Following Herbert ROUNICK's death in 1993, the company faced significant restructuring. In 1995 Della ROUNICK was named vice chairman and CEO of the He-Ro Group. She succeeded her late husband, company founder Herbert ROUNICK. But in 1997 to prevent outright bankruptcy and liquidation, the company signed a letter of intent to merge with Nah Nah Collections Inc. (known for its Nahdree suit label). Following the merger, the original He-Ro Group corporate structure dissolved, and its specialized eveningwear lines were phased out as the fashion landscape shifted into the 2000s.
