Alfred STEVENS (Belgian, Bruxelles 1823 - 1906 Paris)

Alfred Émile Léopold Stevens was a Belgian painter, known for his paintings of elegant modern women. A student of Ingres at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1844, his career enjoyed a meteoric rise in both Belgium and France where he spent most of his life.
