House of Rosine (French, 1911-1929)

Les Parfums de Rosine were established in 1911 by designer Paul POIRET with his wife Denise in conjunction with Dr. Midy, at 107 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore in Paris. Rosine sold perfumes, toiletries and cosmetics as fitting accessories for his avant-garde fashions. The company was named after Poiret's eldest daughter and becomes the first "couturier's perfumes". Poiret create the first perfume Habéra in 1910 but opened the compagny in 1911 with a laboratory at 39 rue du Colisée in Paris and a factory in Courbevoie (suburb of Paris) including a glass and cardboard workshop for packaging under the name of Colin (of the name of his son) the same year. Not less than thirty-five perfumes will be launched until the closure of the plants in 1929, some adopt singular names like Shakhyamuni (1913) or Hahna the Strange Flower (1919) but the most famous remains Rose and Maharajah launched in 1912 and 1922. The Perfumes of Rosine are bought by Oriza L. Legrand. Today only the perfume Rose remains on sale among all the perfumes created by Poiret.
