Gaetano PANCALDI (Piumazzo 1922-2014) the italian artist who was very active and well-known in the Modena area due to his activity as graphic designer and numerous exhibitions. Self-taught painter, since 1950 he participated in several national exhibitions, establishing himself with over 150 awards. Among them: 1st Prize “The figure” Castelfranco Emilia 1965; 1st Prize 14th Painting Competition Vignola 1973;1st Prize 18th Extemporary Painting Competition Vignola 1981;1st Prize 2nd International Painting Prize - Citta di Vescovato (CR) 1988;1st Prize 28th National Painting Prize City of Moglia 1993. The representation of nature and everyday life were among the favorite subjects of the artist. The watercolor with "Ice technique" was invented by Pancaldi to obtain the ice effect on some part of the painting surface.The technique consist to freeze the fresh wet painting and subsequently work on it again. He started to use this technique since 1970.
