Description
Louis XV style oval snuff or patch box in brass-mounted tortoiseshell with a miniature portrait of a woman under the lid, represented leaning towards a bush of roses in a yellow dress with blue bodice.
The subject of the miniature is inspired by the work of François BOUCHER, the French Rococo painter, engraver and designer, who best embodies the frivolity, and the superficial and elegant character of French court life in the mid-18th century.
