Description
Dress in shiny metallic taffeta imitating material, with a gingham check pattern, so called "Vichy", tightened at the waist. It is transparent and a black tulle bottom is sewn inside. It has short sleeves and pockets on the bustier. The collar is closed with shiny black buttons.

Donation from the ERDOTEX group, European leader in the revaluation of used textiles, as a part of a partnership in the selection by Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation of the most emblematic pieces, in order to illustrate the history of fashion and to look at these pieces from the angle of Art work.

The Vichy check pattern is said to have originated in the French town of the same name, when Empress Eugenie discovered it in the Grivats factory in 1863. Very popular, it gradually became commonplace all over Europe.
