Description
A short tie or fichu pin is composed of a head in the shape of an acorn and a fine spike curved on the top.
The oak, its leaves or acorns have been used in France, in fashion and decoration, as a symbol of the monarchy restoration as a political regime. This tradition comes from England, where on May 29, 1660, the monarchy was restored after the civil war. A legend said that during the English Civil War, the future Charles II of England managed to escape Cromwell's parliamentary troops, by hiding in an oak tree in Boscobel Wood. After the war, the tree was honored with the title of "Royal Oak" and its symbolism taken up during monarchical restorations or the return of certain families to the power, as in France with Louis 18 (House of Bourbon) in 1815. And also with Louis Philippe I (House of Orléans) in 1830.
