Bad Kissingen is a spa town in Germany. Its first source, that of Rakoczy, was rediscovered in 1737. Between 1825 and 1833, King Ludwig I of Bavaria begged Friedrich von Gärtner to expand and design spa gardens and classical buildings, still visible today. But it was in 1833 that Bad Kissingen obtained its worldwide reputation, after the king's first spa treatment. For the nobility and the intellectuals, it then became fashionable to go at least once to take the waters in Bad Kissingen.
