Description
Brooch in bronzed copper representing a profile portrait of Nobosodrou, a young Congolese woman from the Mangbetu tribe. Originally the brooch was probably painted with a multicolour enamel.
Such type of fantasy jewellery was created after the "Black Cruise" of André Citroën, based on a photograph taken in Niangara in the Belgian Congo on March 28, 1925. This image inspired multiple artists of the decade on creating different types of objects as sculptures, jewellery, plates.
