Description

Small square scarf depicting a map of Czechoslovakia, surrounded by a frame with the national colors and the coat of arms of Slovakia, Moravia, Czechia, Silesia and Ruthenia. All are united in the Czechoslovakian coat of arms displayed at the bottom of the scarf, surrounded by the motto adopted by Czechoslovakia in 1918 : "PRAVDA VÍTĚZÍ" (truth prevails). Two monograms of the Sokol are depicted, and a big black inscription refers to this organization : "X All-Sokol meeting - Sokol education gave us independance, Sokol education will preserve it for us."

Sokol was an organization created in 1862 in Prague. Promoting physical education, patriotism and solidarity, this movement aimed to educate the citizens of a future independent Czech nation. After the independance of Czechoslovakia in 1918, it stayed a key organization in the life of Czech people. Sokol produced many souvenir objects such as pins, mugs, medals or plates. This scarf was a souvenir of a big meeting uniting the different local offices of Sokol, that happened in 1938.
