Beaded purse with a beaded strap and short tassels on the bottom. Silk lining is embellished with a multicolour animal print. Celluloid clasp is decorated with an elephant and a floral print. Comes with original small mirror covered with the same animal print silk.Around 1907, European artists became very attracted to African art. Objects brought from African trips were quickly introduced to private collections. At the beginning of the 20th century, French colonization took root in Africa, artefacts were plundered and scattered in Parisian museums, considered as exotic and colonial curiosities.
