Description
Chatelaine purse composed of a velvet bag suspended by a decorative chain. The lower part forms the rounded body of the purse and is centred upon a large circular silver appliqué in the manner of a brooch, its surface worked with a symmetrical floral and scroll motif in radiating form. Above, the body narrows slightly before meeting the upper frame, which is ornamented in repoussé with floral and foliate scrollwork and fitted with a kiss-clasp opened by means of a small finger ring. The suspension chain is composed of alternating elongated and rounded links, leading to a stylised floral fitting at the apex that functions as a hook attachment, allowing the purse to be suspended from a belt or waistband in the tradition of chatelaine accessories.Materials
