Description
Coin miser's purse conceived in the form of a walnut. The bag is made of two halves carved from nut wood and united by a deep green wool knit threaded through small holes pierced along their edges. The knit terminates at each side in a tassel, framing the central section of the purse. Between the two wooden halves, a small crocheted compartment worked in matching green wool and fitted with a drawstring closure. The base of each wooden half is pierced with a small hole: one retains its green wool tassel, suspended from the aperture and crowned with a white pearl at its head. The corresponding hole on the opposing half, identical in form and placement, suggests the former presence of a matching tassel, presumably lost over time.
