Description
A habit à la française gentleman's frock coat and breeches of Louis XVI period in mint green ribbed shot silk (a fabric made by weaving together two different colored silk threads to change color or shimmer as the light hits it from different angles). The coat has slim, long-waisted cut with skirts that curve away from the front, narrow stand collar, patch pockets and narrow shoulders (characteristic of the 1760s-1780s years), closed with two matching ivory silk with green stripes covered buttons at the neck and has six pairs of same buttons arranged in a decorative double-breasted line, has two more on each of the deep cuff on tight-fitting sleeves; binded with ivory faille and lined with ivory silk twill. The breeches have a small bib front, side leg closures with covered buttons and interior pockets, lined with white linen.
