Hat

Cloche hat in mauve felt, decorated with embroidered cream-coloured felt animal motifs. The bell-shaped crown features four embroidered animals arranged across the front: a gosling, rabbit, chicken, and chick. The front of the hat is finished with a brim in matching cream-coloured felt, continuing the material and colour of the embroidered motifs. The brim is limited to the front and incorporates pink embroidered decoration along its inner edge. The interior is lined in linen.

The hat was designed on the occasion of the Summer Olympic Games held in Antwerp, Belgium, from 23 August to 12 September 1920, the first Olympic Games to be organised following the interruption of the First World War and notably the first to feature the Olympic flag bearing the five-ring emblem, introduced by Pierre de COUBERTIN as a symbol of the unity of the five continents.
