Description

Children’s suit composed of a waistcoat and matching trousers executed in wool-linen fabric of an ivory-beige tone, originally white. The ensemble originates from the de MALHERBE family of France.

The waistcoat features a wool-linen front panel and a soft cotton back and side sections. The front is fitted with four welt pockets arranged symmetrically and fastens with five round mother-of-pearl buttons. The reverse is equipped with an adjustable belt secured by a metal slide, allowing the fit to be altered as required. A central vertical seam structures the back panel, while the interior is lightly lined with soft cotton fabric.

The matching trousers are constructed from the same wool-linen fabric. The waistband is fitted with belt loops and an adjustable rear strap fastened by two buttons. The fly closure is secured by three buttons, while the interior waistband retains four additional buttons, likely intended for the attachment of suspenders. Two side pockets, lined in soft cotton, are incorporated into the construction. The trouser legs fall straight and are finished with hems at the ankles. The interior remains lightly lined in matching fabric.
