Description
Rectangular box of ebonised hardwood bearing an embrodied lid. The hinged lid is centred by a rectangular glazed aperture enclosing a finely embroidered mesh panel decorated with a floral composition of pink, red, white, and blue blossoms interspersed with green foliage. The lid is further finished with silver-toned metal banding along its edges, while each corner is embellished with applied spiral metal mounts. The box is constructed of ebonised wood and rests on a matching base fitted with a central keyhole on the front. Opening the hinged lid reveals an interior fully lined with blue-and-white floral-printed cotton. The original small steel key is preserved within the box.Materials
