Dance Card

Ivory dance card, finely carved in high relief, bearing a richly ornamented surface of scrolling foliate motifs, flowers, and asymmetrical cartouches. At the centre is an oval reserve containing an engraved monogram of two interlinked “C” letters, enclosed within a finely carved laurel wreath.

The lower end is fitted with its original metal chain terminating in a finger ring, allowing the dance card to be worn securely during formal occasions. Suspended from the opposite end by a short chain is the original slender ivory pencil with a metal tip, intended for recording the names of dance partners.
