Description
Portrait of a visually impaired noblewoman sitting on a sofa in a black wide skirt dress with gigot sleeves, also called leg of mutton sleeves, shoulders are bare. On her neck she has a gold chain, on which are attached pince-nez, which she holds in her right hand, in her left hand she holds a book. There are the Elizabethan ruff style cuffs, also called Jabot style cuffs, paired bracelets are worn over them. Noblewoman is also adorned with a headband known as La Ferronnière, worn on her "girafe" hairdress, and earring parure made of gold and turquoise
