Description
Watercolour fashion plate from the "Le Journal des Dames & des Demoiselles / Belgian Edition", represents women's costume according to fashion trends in the late 1850s.

Engraving depicts two women and a young girl in an interior. The girl to the right in a white confirmation dress and veil, behind her a woman in a pale lilac dress with a flounced skirt trimmed with black frills, white engageantes and a black lace bonnet trimmed with magenta ribbons, and behind them, a woman in a green dress and black-ground shawl checking her reflection in a pier glass. Also in the background are an upholstered armchair, a vase, a candelabrum and a curtain.
