Description
Small netted vegetal fibre bag, in the shape of a pineapple, made on a purse mould, decorated with three acorn beads. The vegetal fibre comes most likely from coconut or banana.

Nostalgic all her life for Martinique where she was born in a sugar plantation, Joséphine de BEAUHARNAIS (1763-1814), first wife of Napoleon I and Empress, loved to be surrounded by lush and colorful nature. For several years, she developed her dear domain of Malmaison in this direction, as well as her knowledge of botany. In 1800, she even had an orangery built and then a greenhouse heated by twelve charcoal stoves to grow and preserve 300 pineapple plants and about 200 varieties of plants that she had introduced to France, which brought a huge fashion for exotic fruits and their shapes.
