Description
Reverse glass oil painting, representing a profile portrait of a young woman, in a semi transparent bonnet, inspired by Phrygian cap, with white brim and blue ribbon bow, large lace fichu collar and white shawl with blue trimming. She is wearing a striped long sleeved gown. The artwork comes with a similar portrait of the lady's husband.

In first the American Revolution and then French Revolution the Phrygian hat, also called liberty cap, came to signify freedom and the pursuit of liberty.
