Reverse glass oil painting, representing a profile portrait of a young woman, in a semi transparent bonnet, inspired by Phrygian cap, with white brim and blue ribbon bow, large lace fichu collar and white shawl with blue trimming. She is wearing a striped long sleeved gown. The artwork comes with a similar portrait of the lady's husband.In first the American Revolution and then French Revolution the Phrygian hat, also called liberty cap, came to signify freedom and the pursuit of liberty.
