Description
Orange cardboard display with 12 steel nail files arranged in an ellipse.
The cutlery art in Nogent, in Champagne, has existed since the 17th century. From fine embroidery scissors to heavy tailor's scissors, via manicure tools, the Art of scissors from Nogent craftsmen (who master a know-how ranging from everyday objects to specific objects or luxury objects ) stands out for its hit quality which has made it famous beyond national borders. Pierre BELIGNEZ was the cutler of Louis XV, N.P Pelletier, the Mozart of scissors, that of Eugenie and Napoleon III. The reputation of the craftsmen-artists of Nogent was such that at the Universal Exhibition of 1862, they said of them that their "rich scissors and pocket and fancy knives are the most beautiful that one makes in all the universe ”. The name of the city has become a brand, a guarantee of quality. Competition and the race for cheap products led to the decline of this business in the 2000s.
