Evening gown in black silk moire decorated with rhinestones on the collar and cuffs, belonged to Izabella YURIEVA (Russian, 1899 – 2000), a Russian singer nicknamed the "Queen of the Russian Romance" and "The white gypsy", in which she was singing "The Dark eyes", even for Joseph STALIN. She was one of the top performers of the romantic Russian Gypsy songs in the late 1920s and 1930s before the genre became almost taboo in Soviet Russia.Materials
