Description
Pastel drawing portrait of a lady dressed according to the Orientalist style fashion, in a white dress with purple decollete, black cape or shawl, and an imposing hairdress consisting of a rang of black feathers with white aigrette in the center.
Paul POIRET, in the first decade of the twentieth century, revolutionized the Parisian Belle Époque silhouette by ridding it of corsets and whales, but he also inspired a lifestyle, an attitude.
In 1910, the success of the Ballets Russes in "Scheherazade" completely liberated his taste for orientalist aesthetics. His harem pants or his "lampshade" tunics find no better playground than the sumptuous party he gave in 1911 under the sign of the "Thousand and Second Nights".
