Description
Art Deco octagonal loose powder compact, so called "powder watch", made in the shape of a watch with a sifter plate that can be rotated from outside the box by a knurled knob. The sifter plate projections on the underside forming a powder scraper to scrape the surface of the compacted powder which is held against the underside of the sifter plate by a spring in the rear compartment. The compact is refilled by lifting the hinged engine-turned plate on the reverse. The chromium-plated compact has two strong hinges and two positive closures. The lid has a painted blue design.
The original patent on this powder watch was deposed by Jacques SCHALL in France January 14, 1927, then in USA January 9, 1928.
