Description
Ottoman reticule composed of yellow cotton and metallic thread crochet on an ivory cotton base. Embroidered motifs are throughout in green, pink, and yellow silk thread including florals, sun and crescents, as well as Turkish Arabic calligraphy. The edges are trimmed in crocheted loops of yelow and metallic thread, with pink silk tassels at the bottom. A woven drawstring with woven loops and strap encircles the top. Interior is lined in pink silk.Bag was likely made for Western tourist market in Constantinople.
