Description
Tiny dark bordo colour knitted woollen money bag, intended to hold coins, in the shape of a pence jug, embellished with golden brass beads, and having a pinchbeck ring on the top with engraved scale motifs.

Such kind of bags was particularly fashionable during 1830s-1860s, as purses for change or as a container for small items. By the 19th century, patterns for decorative objects like these were being noted down and published in popular books. They are often knitted in the round in two colors, in stripes, using fine yarn and fine needles.
