Large oval belt buckle in polished cut steel, with openwork round center, decorated with a rang of large faceted cut steel nails on the frame, and a rang of smaller nails in the center. The buckle is embellished on the bottom with a small round jasperware pottery medallion with a white flower with a cut steel center, surrounded with white dots on the frame. A same type medallion was supposed to decorate the top of the buckle (missing).Jasperware is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah WEDGWOOD in the 1770s. Usually described as stoneware, it has an unglazed matte "biscuit" finish and is produced in a number of different colours, of which the most common and best known is a pale blue that has become known as "Wedgwood Blue".
