Description
Portrait depicting a blonde woman facing the camera, with short, slightly wavy hair. Her elongated face, her almond-shaped, vacant blue eyes, and her delicately drawn red lips lend the portrait an introspective quality. She wears a light blue jacket over a pale blouse, buttoned high at the collar.

The woman depicted is Suzy SOLIDOR (1900-1983), stage name of Suzanne MARION, a French singer, actress, and writer. Her fame made her a muse for photographers and painters between the two World Wars. Her face and sculpted figure inspired more than 200 of them, including Raoul DUFY, Francis PICABIA, Man RAY, Jean-Gabriel DOMERGUE, or Jean COCTEAU. Her most famous portrait was painted by Tamara de LEMPICKA in 1935.
