Description
Writing casket in ebony wood with blue horn, mother-of-pearl and engraved brass marquetry, opening with a cover revealing inside compartments, and a flap with an inclined tablet lined with bordo velvet, revealing another space to keep letters and a leather belt to maintain pens and feathers. The case, originally created during the Second French Empire, further belonged to Elsa SCHIAPARELLI, iconic fashion designer, who either bought this case because of the monogram "E. S" on the lid, or made it engraved by herself.
