Description
Caricature representing the actress Elvire POPESCO (1894-1993) wearing a long dress with short sleeves and open back in light green color, wearing yellow heels. She is presented from back and holding a long pearl necklace in her left hand.

Elvire Popesco, whose real name is Elvira Popescu, is a Romanian and French actress who began her career in silent cinema before entering the Parisian stage where, her comic talents and her accent quickly made her a "sacred monster" of boulevard theater. She was one of the queens of the boulevard theater during the years 1960-1970. In 1934, she bought the villa Paul Poiret in Mézy-sur-Seine where she lived until 1985. During these years, and having become by marriage in 1939 with Maximilien Sébastien Foy (1900-1967), Comtesse Foy was the hostess of her high society salon were she receved the All-Paris.
Elvire POPESCO is also known for having been a loyal client of the Adlerberg lingerie house founded by Russian emigrants.
