Etablissement Vergnes et Barlan (French, active since 20th century)
Description
Handmade Egyptian style embroidery crafted with white long and short glass beads, synthetic pearl beads, and glass cabochons, on a white tulle base. The pattern features a central beatle motif with a stylised bird wing flanking it's left.
Inspired by the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922, embroideries such as this were often used to decorate clothing or accessories during the Art Deco period.
